Nestled against Lake Superior, Wisconsin offers lush farmland, beautiful woods and shorelines, and charming ethnic history. We’ll explore great food and beer “that made Milwaukee famous,” cranberry bogs and cheesemaking, mansions and motorcycles, kringles and tractors and football. Wow!

Included meals are denoted: Breakfast: B, Lunch: L, Dinner: D

DAYS 1-2

We fly from ABQ to Chicago, pick up our deluxe motorcoach and head to Madison where we lodge for 2 nights.  Frank Lloyd Wright was born in Wisconsin and designed many of Madison’s most notable buildings. We will tour Wright’s Taliesin East, started in 1911, and covering 600-plus acres of beautiful rolling countryside. We’ll tour the Wisconsin State Capitol, a beautiful Greek Revival building with a 284-ft-high dome and a columned facade. Inside we will see ornate marble work, multiple murals and learn about the history of the 30th state. The unusual House on the Rock is a trip through the fantastic imagination of Alex Jordan. This sprawling site, perched atop a chimney-rock, contains more than 3,200 windows. Highlights include the world famous 218-foot-long Infinity Room and the world's largest indoor carousel.

DAYS 3-4

Whether jelly from a can or your prized home-made relish, the best cranberries are grown in the Wisconsin cranberry bogs. We see the deep red berries afloat before harvest, and learn all about them. On to Green Bay to lodge two nights, enjoy a city tour and a special tour of iconic Lambeau Field, home of the Packers. From here we drive into Door County with its 300 miles of shoreline. We stop at the various villages and towns along the peninsula, soaking up the Norwegian and Moravian settlements history, the contemporary arts scene, the Maritime Museum, and feast at a traditional fish boil.

DAYS 5-6

Great food halls and breweries abound in Milwaukee and we’ll get our fill of them. Our two city tours will go from downtown, past the Milwaukee Art Museum and the North Park Lighthouse, and include an exclusive tour at the Harley-Davidson Museum. Did we mention cannoli at an historic Italian bakery? We drive down Beer Baron history including “Sauerkraut Blvd.” where all the German beer makers lived. We indulge in the city’s best Brewery Tour, with tastings, of course. And we’ll be there for a farewell Fish Fry Friday dinner (it’s more than just fish). There will be time to stroll along the Riverwalk, enjoying the many outdoor sculptures or shopping.

Racine is our final destination, and what a stop! We’ll tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s biggest commercial project, the SC Johnson headquarters, and the Racine Experience Center, to see the evolution of tractors, from a 1913 steam powered number to the newest Case IH autonomous concept tractor. We’ll tour Larsen’s Bakery, home of the original Kringle. Then it's off to Chicago for our flight home with great memories and full tummies.
