Like a field of snow, the white gypsum sand dunes of the White Sands National Monument spreads before us. White Sands National Monument is in the northern Chihuahuan Desert in the U.S. state of New Mexico. Trails through the dunes include the raised Interdune Boardwalk and the Dune Life Nature Trail, dotted with interpretive exhibits on wildlife and other features. The luxurious Inn of the Mountain Gods is our home for one night.

Included meals are denoted: Breakfast: B, Lunch: L, Dinner: D

DAY 1              L
We travel south, stopping to enjoy lunch before arriving in Ruidoso. Our home tonight, the Inn of the Mountain Gods, is situated high in the picturesque mountains of Mescalero just outside of Ruidoso on the Mescalero Apache reservation. The inn blends the charm and comforts of an upscale resort with the thrill of a top casino.

DAY 2              B, L
After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and meet our coach for the short ride to White Sands National Monument. The snow-white gypsum fields now cover 275 square miles of desert. Did you bring your sled? We continue north, stopping to enjoy lunch and a tour at the Heart of the Desert Pistachio and Wines.  Soon we arrive back in Albuquerque, our hearts filled with the enjoyment of our beautiful Land of enchantment.
