Day 1 – Charleston
We fly to Charleston, where a local guide joins us on a driving tour of the city. Three nights’ lodging in Charleston.
Day 2 – Charleston
A local guide joins us on a driving tour of the city. After, we visit Magnolia Plantation. Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it, from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens. We tour the former plantation this morning, then have the rest of the day to explore Charleston at our leisure. Tonight, we enjoy our welcome dinner together!
Meals included: (B, D)
Day 3 – Low Country
The Fort Sumter National Monument sits prominently at the mouth of the Charleston Harbor, a strategic location that was crucial to its defense. Our morning begins with a cruise to Fort Sumter from Liberty Square in downtown Charleston. The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge provides the backdrop for all Fort Sumter cruises, with Charleston’s stately Rainbow Row and Battery homes clearly seen from onboard. Approaching Fort Sumter National Monument, graceful sailboats and the possibility of dolphin sightings add to the photogenic scene. At Middleton Place, America’s oldest landscaped gardens, we explore over 65 acres of formal and colorful gardens.
Meals included: (B)
Day 4 – Kazoos & Travel to Savannah
Our next stop is pure whimsy – we tour a kazoo factory! Kazoobie Kazoos, LLC, has been manufacturing plastic kazoos in the USA since 1999. They ship nearly one million kazoos a year to all points on the globe. The Kazoo Museum contains historical kazoos from the collections of Boaz Frankel, Barbara Stewart, and Rick Hubbard. We’ll learn all about how the kazoo was invented and we’ll get to make our own to take home! After, we enjoy a trolley ride of the historic old town in Beaufort, before traveling to Savannah. Three nights’ lodging in Savannah.
Meals included: (B)
Day 5 – Savannah
Our morning finds us on Tybee Island at the Fort Pulaski National Monument. The Union Army used rifled cannon and compelled the Confederate garrison inside Fort Pulaski to surrender. Our next stop is Tybee Island Light, a lighthouse next to the Savannah River. Tonight, we’ll sail down the Savannah River while we savor dinner onboard our paddleboat.
Meals included: (B, L)
Day 6 – Tybee Island
This morning we’ll visit the Owens-Thomas House and Slave Quarters. The tour includes an exploration of the lives and complicated relationships of the most and least powerful people in 19th-century Savannah. Having seen Savannah from the river, we now explore it by a land-based mode of transportation…a trolley! Our jaunt this morning takes us through the Old Town area, where we have multiple options for our adventuresome side. We then head to the American Prohibition Museum. Exhibits, historical memorabilia, and artifacts bring this dry chapter in America from 1907-1933 to life. We’ll learn about this fascinating period of American history, and its interesting ties to NASCAR. Tonight we enjoy a group Dinner at a local restaurant.
Meals included: (B, D)
Day 7 – Savannah
On our final morning in Savannah, We head back to Albuquerque on our flight from the Savannah airport.

ITINERARY
For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has day-by-day times and events, hotel information where you can be reached in case of an emergency, and airline information.
The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.
AIRLINE TICKETS
You will be issued your boarding pass the morning of our departure, after your arrival at the Albuquerque International Sunport. If you have a frequent flyer number, or a TSA number, please call our office at least 3 days prior to the tour to ensure we can note these in your reservation.
If you are joining the tour from locations other than Albuquerque, we make other arrangements for you to join the tour. Please call our office for more details.
AIRPORT SECURITY
Do not forget to bring your government issued picture ID to show at the airport. A Driver’s License or Passport is preferred. If you do not have the proper ID, the airline will turn you away.
BAGGAGE
We have arranged for handling for one piece of luggage per person regarding the skycaps (where available) and hotels. If you check through luggage note that the maximum weight for the checked piece of luggage is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height). If your bag weighs over 50 pounds the airlines will levy an extra fee that you will be responsible to pay. If you feel the need to lock your checked through luggage and your bag is searched, your lock could be damaged in the process. You can purchase a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) accepted and recognized lock at any luggage store. Make sure you ask for a TSA approved lock. These locks are the kind that TSA screeners can open by using a special tool without breaking. Passengers can carry-on 1 bag (dimensions are limited to 10x16x24 inches), plus a personal type bag, like a purse. We advise that you pack your carry-on lightly. There are restrictions regarding your carryon baggage and contents due to enhanced security measures. If you have further concerns, please visit the TSA's Web-site at www.tsa.gov. There is room inside the motorcoach for your hand carried bag.
CHECKED BAGGAGE FEES
On our preferred airline for this tour, passengers are assessed a fee per checked in bag, by the Airlines, upon checking in for the flight.
EMERGENCY CONTACT
It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.

If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please call us as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you. The phone numbers of the hotel(s) where we are staying are listed on the itinerary.
