Fun Facts
The first Anglo-European settlers, Mormon pioneers, arrived in the Zion National Park in the late 1800s.
They named the area Zion, which is ancient Hebrew for sanctuary or refuge.
The Zion Canyon was carved over millions of years by the Virgin River.
It is approximately 2,000 feet deep.
One of the main attractions of Bryce Canyon National Park is its stunning landscape, with towering red rock spires and pinnacles.
These are known as “hoodoos."
The longest arch in Arches National Park is Landscape Arch and has a light opening 306 feet (93.3 meters) across.
The tallest arch is Double Arch South and it has a vertical light opening of 112 feet (34.1 meters).
