Ruidoso is a quaint New Mexico village nestled in the Sierra Blanca mountain range. First settled by the Mescalero Apache, the area was named Rio Ruidoso by the Spanish, which literally means “Noisy River.” Deeply rooted in Native American culture and influenced by the early Spanish settlers, Ruidoso continues to maintain its rich history, combined with the amenities of a world-class mountain resort. The nearby Ski Apache resort offers runs of varying difficulty and a terrain park. To the southwest, Lincoln National Forest has trails and waterfalls. Ruidoso Downs Race Track features summer horse races. Northeast of the village, Lincoln Historic Site has 19th-century adobe and stone buildings, including a store and church, plus a museum.

DAY 1 L
We start day one departing from the Meadowlark Senior Center and traveling to Sun Tours headquarters to meet the rest of our group. Once on the road we'll have our first break mid-morning for a stretch and refresh. Lunch will be with the group. Next we stop at the Lincoln Historic Site. This most widely visited state monument in New Mexico is part of a community frozen in time—the 1870's and 1880's. Through a gift from the Hubbard Family Trust, the historic site now includes 17 structures and outbuildings, 7 of which are open year round and 2 more seasonally as museums. And finally we check in to the renowned Inn of the Mountain Gods where dinner is on your own.

DAY 2 B
Rise and shine! It's time for a sumptuous breakfast buffet at our hotel. Now we eagerly check-out and make our way to the Cowboy Fest! At the festival you can enjoy lunch on your own at one of the dozens of festival vendors. After a fun few hours we depart and make our way home. Stopping once for a short break and then on to Sun Tours headquarters. Here we say goodbye to part of our group and then head to Meadowlark.
