We head west across the colorful deserts of northern New Mexico and Arizona, with a stop in San Marino to visit an extraordinary botanical garden. The next day, we get to view the floats close-up as they get their finishing touches. Then it’s time to watch them parade down Colorado Street from our reserved seats! After a tour and lunch at the historic Mission Inn, it’s on to Laughlin, where exciting casinos and the soothing Colorado River greet us.

Included meals are denoted: Breakfast: B, Lunch: L, Dinner: D

DAY 1

We head west across the colorful deserts of northern New Mexico and Arizona. We lodge one night in Kingman, AZ.

DAY 2              B

Continuing west, we reach the Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank, CA, where we have a tour. Props and costumes from classic films, along with more recent blockbusters, give us a glimpse into the magic of the Silver Screen. We lodge two nights in Los Angeles.

DAY 3               B,D

At the float viewing, we watch a huge crew of volunteers put the finishing touches on these amazing displays of artistry. Floral imagination, plus a lot of hard work creates a world-class spectacle. We drive to the J. Paul Getty Museum, where there is something for everyone: stunning grounds, ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, European paintings, illuminated manuscripts, and photography. Tonight, we usher in the New Year with dinner and a champagne toast!

DAY 4              B

The Rose Parade is the greatest floral spectacle in the world. We watch the two-hour parade of floats, bands, and equestrians from our reserved grandstand seats on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. We then drive to Riverside, to the historic and romantic Mission Inn where we lodge two nights.

DAY 5              L

After docent’s guide us on a walking tour featuring the art, architecture, and history of the fascinating Mission Inn, we savor the Inn’s renowned buffet lunch.  The rest of our day is free to enjoy as we please.

DAY 6              D

We must leave sunny California but we have some fascinating stops yet to make.  The World’s Tallest Thermometer is waiting for us.  We continue east to Arizona, where we overnight in Flagstaff and enjoy dinner together.

DAY 7              B

We are on the home stretch now.  As the scenery changes, we begin to recognize the markers of the Land of Enchantment. A stop in Gallup to see the new Code-Talker Exhibit is a nice break.  Then we exchange phone numbers with new friends and remember all the fun we had on this tour as we arrive in Albuquerque.

Itinerary subject to change.
