Land Tours - One Night
Across the high plains of eastern New Mexico and the Texas panhandle is a true hidden treasure. Palo Duro Canyon, just outside Amarillo, is the “Grand Canyon of Texas”. The state park encompasses over 42 square miles of beautiful vistas and trails and is home to Texas!, “the most spectacular outdoor musical drama in the world.”
The dark river, usually illuminated by only the stars and moon, reflects what has become one of New Mexico’s grandest holiday light shows - Christmas on the Pecos.
We take the high road north, admiring the views of golden aspens and the Sangre de Christos. We head to Red River for their celebration, passing through Angel Fire on our way home.
Traveling for 64-miles between Chama, NM and Antonito, CO, the Cumbres & Toltec is the longest and highest steam railroad in the nation and the most scenic, crossing the border of Colorado and New Mexico 11 times as it chugs its way up and over 10,015-foot-high Cumbres Pass.
Ancient, old and new are on offer as we explore Sky City, established in the 11th Century, Pietown and Winslow - sites of the Old West.
