New York City is the “Big Apple.” Its wonders exceed expectations – the fantastic skyline, marvelous restaurants, theaters, museums, sightseeing attractions, cultural centers, shops, and architecture. Not to mention, it is the premier, historical gateway for legal immigration to the United States, and a global symbol of freedom and cultural diversity. We explore a cross-section of the city’s fantastic offerings on our 7-day tour.

Included meals are denoted: Breakfast: B, Lunch: L, Dinner: D

DAY 1

We fly to New York and transfer to the Millennium Broadway, a top-rated hotel in Times Square. Located in the heart of the Broadway theater district, this is our “home” for our six-night stay. Newly included in this tour is the Millennium’s wonderful American breakfast buffet.

DAY 2

Our wonderful NYC guide, Marta Sanders-Cooper, joins us for a driving tour of Midtown and Lower Manhattan. We see Times Square, Herald Square, Macy’s, the Garment District, Soho, Washington Square, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, City Hall, the Brooklyn Bridge, and much more. A downtown walking tour passes Wall Street, the Stock Exchange, Federal Hall, the Federal Reserve Building, and Trinity Church Wall St. After a stop at the Winter Garden/Brookfield Place, we visit the 9/11 Memorial with its cascading fountains in the footprints of the Twin Towers.

DAY 3         D

Enjoy a free day to explore individual interests in this fascinating city, before rejoining the group for dinner and a wonderful Broadway show.

DAY 4

Today we drive to Battery Park to catch a ferry to the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island. This international symbol of freedom is also the tallest statue in the world. We take another ferry to nearby Ellis Island which was the point of entry for millions of immigrants from 1892 to 1924. Here, the National Museum of Immigration chronicles its history and the immigrants themselves. Our final ferry takes us back to Battery Park where we’ll learn the earliest history of New Amsterdam, the original name of New York. Our bus then returns us to our hotel.

DAY 5           L

We start our day with our tour guide, Marta, who takes us uptown. We see Lincoln Center, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Columbia University, Riverside Church and other sites on our way to and from Harlem.  Back in Manhattan for the afternoon, we take a walking tour starting at Rockefeller Center. This 19-story high-rise building complex is a National Historic Landmark. We go into the neo-gothic style St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and then tour Radio City Music Hall.

DAY 6

An additional morning is ours – shall we visit the Public Library, MOMA, the Cloisters – or take it easy with ice cream in Central Park? Later we'll enjoy another spectacular Broadway performance.

DAY 7

We check out of our hotel and head to Grand Central Terminal where transportation, architecture, shopping and dining meet. The Main Concourse, with its barrel-vaulted ceiling and marble accents, is breathtaking. Our last stop is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where we can visit the astonishing Egyptian collection or wonderful American works. Although we have enjoyed our time in the Big Apple, all good things must come to an end. We head to the airport for our flight home.
