Washington is a city of treasures – some that we all know about, like the Smithsonian Museums, the monuments, the Capitol Building, and the White House. Others will surprise us as we become familiar with this historic city. Our hotel is conveniently located a stone’s throw from the Capitol Building and Smithsonian Museums. Our nation’s history comes to life on this fascinating tour.

Included meals are denoted: Breakfast: B, Lunch: L, Dinner: D

DAY 1

We fly to Washington, DC, where we lodge for six nights at the Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol. It is located in the heart of our nation’s capital, just steps away from the National Mall.

The day begins visiting memorials with our local guide. We'll go to Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. Then, we have a free afternoon with lunch on your own. Later, we enjoy a dinner to welcome us to the city with our fellow SUN TOURS Travelers.

Today starts with a visit to Ford's Theater, where your ticket includes the museum, One Destiny, Peterson House, and the Center for Education and Leadership. Our first stop this morning is at the Airforce Memorial. When then make our way to the US Marine Corps Memorial and Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon was George Washington's impressive home on the Potomac River for 45 years. There are a dozen outbuildings, Washington's tomb, and the Museum & Educational Center. Still enjoying Mount Vernon we watch a movie titled "We fight to be free" in the Ford Orientation Center. As the finale of the day, we tour the mansion before we head back to our hotel.
