Copper Canyon may be in one of the most remote regions in Mexico, but we make it accessible. We fly into Mazatlan, then ride the Ferromex Chepe from El Fuerte to Copper Canyon. After exploring the canyon region and nearby attractions, we fly home from Chihuahua.

We depart Albuquerque and fly to Mazatlán, Mexico. We meet our Tour Director and transfer to our beautiful beach hotel, Pueblo Bonito. Welcome dinner tonight.

DAY 2              B,L

We enjoy a tour of Mazatlán's historic district, seeing the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and other beautiful sights. We learn about the 19th-century buildings, plazas and local markets.

DAY 4              B,L,D

We catch the Ferromex Chepe this morning. An engineering marvel that travels from sea level to almost 8,000 feet to take us to Copper Canyon. Our Tour Director introduces us to the Tarahumara, or Raramuri, people. We lodge two nights at the Hotel Mirador.

DAY 6              B,L,D

Today we tour Copper Canyon Park and descend to the lower canyon on a gondola ride. We visit a Tarahumara village. Afterward, we will have time for some shopping before returning to our hotel.

We depart for Cuauhtémoc where we learn about the Mennonite community that settled here nearly 100 years ago. We continue to Chihuahua where we see colonial and revolutionary landmarks such as Pancho Villa’s home, the extraordinary colonial Cathedral, and the Spanish Aqueduct. A farewell dinner tonight.

DAY 9

We transfer to the Chihuahua airport to head home with fond memories of the beauty and culture of Mexico’s Copper Canyon.
