There is good reason why Central California attracts millions of visitors from around the world. We are entranced by the breathtaking and diverse landscapes, from rugged coastlines to giant sequoias. “I love how this tour blends in attractions featuring iconic American legends (think Yosemite, Hearst & Steinbeck). Our travelers always love the fun-filled and relaxing stay at Wonder Valley Ranch.” – Kate Kennedy, SUN TOURS Tour Coordinator

We fly to a Bay Area airport and drive to Pebble Beach and follow Pebble Beach’s 17-Mile Drive as it threads between golf courses and the rocky coast where sea lions share their rocks with cormorants. Later this afternoon we enjoy free time in lovely downtown Carmel. We lodge one night in Carmel.
DAY 2 B
The Monterey Peninsula is one of California’s most beautiful areas. The lavender-colored ice plant, the characteristic Monterey cypress trees, and the playful sea otter give the area a unique character. In Monterey we visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium . We have free time to spend in the area, including the option to take a free trolley to Cannery Row, which was made famous in the John Steinbeck novel.
DAY 3 B,L,D
At San Simeon, we tour the estate of William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper magnate who had the Hearst Castle built between 1919 and 1947, at a cost of over 50 million dollars. Originally slated to be a bungalow, his original idea changed to opulent proportions. Next up is a visit to Sculpterra Winery for a tasting, This evening we arrive at Wonder Valley Ranch, California’s first guest ranch, located east of Fresno. We lodge 2 nights here, where the friendly and solicitous staff creates an environment that everyone enjoys. Our fun evening includes an orientation, happy hour, included dinner, a magic show and a singing cowboy!
DAY 4 B,L.D
With a Wonder Valley Ranch guide we drive into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains to reach Kings Canyon National Park. This area features the world’s greatest concentration of giant sequoia trees, the largest of all living things. We walk the General Grant Grove Trail to the General Grant Tree, enjoy a box lunch at lovely Lake Hume, and see a marvelous vista of Kings Canyon from Junction View. We return to Wonder Valley Ranch for dinner and an evening filled with entertainment and fun.
DAY 5 B,L
Today we experience the iconic World Heritage site, Yosemite National Park, located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Famed for its giant ancient sequoia trees, Yosmite has also become internationally known for its glaciers, granite domes, waterfalls, grand meadows, spectacular valleys and biological diversity.
DAY 6 D
Our day starts with a stop at Columbia State Historic Park, also known as Columbia Historic District, includes almost 30 buildings built during the California Gold Rush. This evening, we enjoy a dinner cruise on River City Queen on the Sacramento River.
DAY 7 B
It is almost time to turn toward home, but we have time for a few more stops. A tour of the beautiful California State Capitol Building fills the time with fascination until our flight back to Albuquerque.
