Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, the Old West atmosphere of Deadwood … these are highlights of our tour to one of the most unique areas of the United States. One of our recent Black Hills travelers said, “This was our first Sun Tour and we loved every minute.” This tour is full of big wonders and little surprises.

DAY 1
We drive north past the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and over Raton Pass into Colorado. We enjoy the scenery as we ride along the convergence of the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains. We lodge one night in Denver.
DAY 2 B,L
We are in cowboy country now as we cross into Wyoming. In Cheyenne, we stop at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum, where the history of the world’s largest outdoor rodeo and western celebration comes alive. A premier cultural and historical center, the Museum offers rotating historic artifact exhibits that celebrate the Western legacy and thrilling history of Cheyenne Frontier Days.
DAY 3 B,L
Today we enjoy the awesome beauty of the Black Hills and take in its great attractions. First is Mount Rushmore with the 60 ft. high granite faces of four great presidents, making for a memorable day. Next, we visit the on-going sculpting of Crazy Horse Memorial by the Ziolkowski family. ,
DAY 4 B,L
Our day begins with a visit to the Badlands National Park, a geological wonder with a maze of buttes, canyons, and gullies formed by 37 million years of erosion. We stop at Wall Drug Store for lunch, where "free ice water" has been offered since 1936! At Bear Country U.S.A., we drive through 250 acres of natural habitat, seeing lots of wildlife (especially bears) up close. Tonight, weather permitting, we are back at Crazy Horse Monument for the multi-media light show that turns the mountainside into a giant 500-foot screen.

DAY 5 B
We take the scenic route through the Black Hills to Deadwood where we enjoy a city tour with “Alkali Ike." The rest of the afternoon is free time to enjoy the frontier-town atmosphere. We lodge one night in Deadwood.

DAY 6 B
We leave the Black Hills behind and drive south through eastern Wyoming on our way to Colorado. Our first stop is the Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, followed by discovery in northern Colorado where we often see herds of antelope. We continue to Denver to lodge one night.
DAY 7 B
We continue our drive south through beautiful Colorado with great memories of our time in the “wild and woolly” Black Hills of South Dakota.
