DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3 L,D
We depart Albuquerque for our overnight flight to Auckland, NZ. We lose a day as we cross the International Date Line – but we’ll get it back upon our return! Upon our arrival in Auckland we transfer by motorcoach to the Regal Princess and explore this marvelous ship. We set sail at 6:00.
DAY 4 B,L,D
We arrive very early in harborside city of Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty region on New Zealand's North Island. It hosts historic buildings like the Elms Mission Station, an 1847 Georgian-style home. A bridge over the harbor connects Tauranga to Mount Maunganui, a beach town with hot saltwater pools and an extinct namesake volcano with winding walking paths.
DAY 5 B,L,D
Today we enjoy beautiful cruising. We can explore the ship, enjoy a spa treatment or just relax with a good book.
DAY 6 B,L,D
Christchurch, known for its English heritage, is located on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Flat-bottomed punts glide on the Avon River, which meanders through the city center. On its banks are cycling paths, the green expanse of Hagley Park and Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
DAY 7 B,L,D
Known as the Edinburgh of New Zealand, Dunedin is the country's city of the south, wearing its Scottish heritage with pride. Surrounded by dramatic hills and at the foot of a long, picturesque harbor, Dunedin is one of the best-preserved Victorian and Edwardian cities in the Southern Hemisphere.
DAY 8 B,L,D
Fiordland National Park is in the southwest of New Zealand’s South Island. It’s known for the glacier-carved fiords of Doubtful and Milford sounds. A beech forest trail on the sandy Milford shore offers views of towering Mitre Peak. Nearby, the craggy Earl Mountains are reflected in the glassy surface of Mirror Lakes. On the Cleddau River, the Chasm Walk passes over bridges with views of powerful waterfalls. We enjoy a day of scenic cruising in this stunning area.
DAY 9 B,L,D DAY 10 B,L,D
We have two leisurely days of cruising! You can be as busy as you choose. Relax on deck with a good book, hit the gym, or maybe take a dance lesson.
DAY 11 B,L,D
Hobart, capital of Australia's island state of Tasmania, sits on the River Derwent. At its fashionable Salamanca Place, old sandstone warehouses host galleries and cafes. Nearby is Battery Point, a historic district with narrow lanes and colonial-era cottages. The city's backdrop is 1,270m-high Mount Wellington, with sweeping views, plus hiking and cycling trails.
DAY 12 B,L,D
While we’re at sea, perhaps we’ll choose to curl up with a good book on deck or watch a show in the onboard theater. Maybe there will be a class we’ve always wanted to take. For those that like to try their luck, a visit to the casino is in order. There are so many options, and we can make it as leisurely or as exciting as we want!
DAY 13 B,L,D
Australia's mecca of all things trendy and tasty, Melbourne offers up exquisite dining, exhilarating sport and abundant opportunities to experience art. Melbourne is a blend of bustling laneways, world-class restaurants and captivating museums. The locals love their coffee and serve it up in abundance at cozy cafes. There's always a sense of excitement here – whether it’s in the city's fascinating flavors or fierce sporting rivalries.
DAY 14 B,L,D
DAY 15 B
We arrive and disembark in Sydney this morning. We tour this capital of New South Wales and one of Australia's largest cities, with opportunities to visit its best attractions including the Sydney Opera House, with a distinctive sail-like design. Massive Darling Harbour and the smaller Circular Quay port are hubs of waterside life, with the arched Harbour Bridge and esteemed Royal Botanic Garden nearby. Sydney Tower’s outdoor platform, the Skywalk, offers 360-degree views of the city and suburbs. Our last night’s lodging is at the 5-star Four Seasons Hotel Sydney.
DAY 16 B
Today we head home to Albuquerque, filled with memories of the amazing and beautiful sights of Australia and New Zealand. We’ll get back the day we lost on the way out. Our trans-Pacific flight arrives in the U.S. before we left, at least according to the clock!
