We drive the colorful country of northeastern New Mexico, stop for lunch in Durango, and reach Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. It is here that some of the world’s largest and best-preserved cliff dwellings are tucked into caves on canyon walls. From the comfort of our motorcoach, we make several stops at scenic overlooks and see Cliff Palace and Square Top House. We lodge in the park at Far View Lodge.
DAY 2 B,L
The day starts with a tour of Cliff Palace, the largest cliff dwelling in North America. We continue our day with guided sightseeing of cliff dwellings and surface dwellings. (Climbing ladders is required.) Or, for those wanting a more leisurely option, we can visit the Far View group of archaeological sites. After a tour of the Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum and lunch near the Spruce Tree house, we begin our trip back home to Albuquerque.
