We enjoy an included local city tour of Anchorage featuring the historic downtown area, Lake Hood where 190+ float planes takeoff and land daily, Earthquake Park to learn about the 1964 Earthquake, and the Alaska Native Heritage Center where we will have the chance to learn about the history and culture of Alaska. Later, we  travel south along the scenic Seward Highway to the port town of Whittier. Upon arrival into Whittier we board a marine vessel for a scenic journey through Prince William Sound to the town of Valdez. The pristine waters are filled with marine animals, while glaciers, and mountains tower about us. Dinner will be included on board. Overnight Valdez area.

DAY 3              B

We board our motorcoach for a journey north to the largest city in the interior, Fairbanks; known to Alaskans as the Golden Heart City. The route takes us along the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest park in the U.S. and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Two nights in Fairbanks.

DAY 4             B,D

Today we learn how the gold rush affected Alaska's interior on a sightseeing tour with an included visit to the Museum of the North. Time is available for shopping, walking or dining on our own in the downtown area. Later, we cruise on the Chena River aboard a sternwheeler and experience the thrill of river travel. Tonight, we'll enjoy an authentic salmon  bake for dinner together!

DAY 5              B

We ride the motorcoach south to Denali National Park. Upon arrival, we travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour. We search the vast wilderness for bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. This six-to-eight-hour journey is narrated, providing insights into the animals, flora and fauna of this spectacular region and includes a snack on the bus. We overnight in Denali.

DAY 6              B,L

After breakfast, we travel to Denali Rail Depot where we board a deluxe dome railcar for a scenic transfer south to the quaint town of Talkeetna, nestled at the base of Mt. Denali and which began as a trading post when gold was first discovered in the Susitna River. Overnight in Talkeetna.

DAY 7              B,D

The morning will be at our leisure to explore Talkeetna on our own or purchase an optional tour such as a flightseeing tour of Mt. Denali, scenic jetboat ride or other choice.
